7th Chords in a Key
Hey guys,
In this lesson we’re going to look at how 7th chords fit into a key. In our previous lessons we looked at which chords in a key are major and minor, but now we’re going to build off of these and turn them into 7th chords. Here’s a summary:
All the minor chords become minor 7 chords
The I and IV chords become major 7 chords
The V chord becomes a dominant 7 chord.
Finally, the vii chord becomes a minor 7b5 or a half diminished.
