Solo Guitar Has Never Been Easier!

By Eric Hufschmid

Hey guys,

Today we’re working on the basics of solo acoustic guitar – the ability to play a melody with a supporting bass note and chord structure all on one guitar. One awesome trick you can do is to play a short melodic phrase and then repeat it over changing chords. The melody ends up feeling completely different over each chord change and helps to give the song some direction and motion. Today, we’ll break down this example in an easy to understand way.

Enjoy the lesson guys!

Using the strategies we discussed, create a simple melody of your own and then repeat it over a series of chords.
