The Ionian mode just may the most versatile scale of all time, but today we’ll focus on a riff in the style of the 90′s great The Smashing Pumpkins. There’s no limit to what you can do with this scale, it just depends on how you use it. While certainly an alternative band, The Smashing Pumpkins also had a pop side, which is what we’ll be looking at today.
