No-Brainer Modern Rock Soloing

By Darren DeFranco

Hey guys,

Today we’re going to share a strategy you can use to make super simple and easy guitar solos. The basic idea here is that we’re going to play four repeating notes from a major scale with a simple eighth or sixteenth note rhythm. Bands like Paramore and Hillsong have used this technique for creating epic lead parts that couldn’t be easier to play. We hope it’ll work for you!

Enjoy the lesson guys!

Try improvising a solo using this four note strategy over the following chord progressions:

A minor – F – C – G
C – F – G – A minor
F – G – A minor – G
