Root 3 and Root 4 Power Chords

By Eric Hufschmid

Hey guys,

Although we already have looked at power chords in a previous lesson, today we’ll be looking at power chords built off the 4th and 3rd strings instead of the 6th and 5th strings. While both are still power chords, you’re going to find that the 4th and 3rd string power chords have a much brighter sound and are good for a 2nd guitar part to complement a lower, bassier first guitar. Today we’ll learn these new shapes.

Enjoy guys!

Learn these two new shapes and try moving them up the fretboard one fret at a time. Also, take this time to really learn the notes on the 4th and 3rd strings seeing as that is where will derive our root notes.
