Gov’t Mule Style Pentatonic Riff

By Darren DeFranco

Hey guys!

One of the coolest things about the pentatonic scale is that you really can’t go wrong with any of the notes in the scale. Because of this fool-proof quality, many jam bands like to use the pentatonic scale when they jam out. Today we’ll be looking a riff inspired by the great guitar work of guitarist Warren Haynes from Gov’t Mule.

Enjoy the riff everybody!

Try to get this riff as tight and clean as possible, and think about how all the notes fit into the root 5 pentatonic scale.
