The Jazz Toolkit – Diminished Leading Chords

Hey guys,

Today we’re going to look at a super easy trick you can use to create very strong jazz chord progressions. We’re going to use fully diminished 7th chords to lead into standard diatonic chords. This creates a very strong sense of direction by balancing tension with resolution. As a result, your harmonies will sound both interesting and jazzy while at the same time bringing the listener to a logical place. This is a classic trick and a must know for jazz players.
