The Triplet Rhythm

By Darren DeFranco

Hey guys,

Today we’re looking at a brand new rhythm – the triplet. The basic idea here is that we’re breaking down a beat into three notes. You can strum triplets or you can pick them individually. These patterns are all over the place, from metal to doo wop, so it’s important to know!

Enjoy the lesson, and let us know if you have any questions!

Practice switching between eighth note strumming and triplets. Also, you may want to go back go previous scales we learned and play them up and down using a triplet pattern. Make sure to have proper timing and always use a metronome!
