The Hendrix Box

By Eric Hufschmid

Hey everybody,

In this lesson we’re going to learn about a brand new pentatonic extension, the Hendrix box. This is actually a 6 note pattern that is built to the left of the root 5 pentatonic scale. Many timeless riffs have been written using this area and it is super easy and practical to built an awesome solo with. In this lesson we’ll show you where it is and how to play it.

Good luck guys!

First learn where the Hendrix box is and where to play it. Then, practice transitioning from the root 5 pentatonic scale to the Hendrix box and vise versa. Try it with a number of scales.
