Root 5 Sus Chords

Hey guys,

In today’s lesson we’re going to learn our root 5 sus chords. These chords sound awesome when switching between regular major and minor chords. It really makes for a dynamic way to play a single chords. For example, we could play something like D – D sus4 – D – Dsus2, and though you are technically playing a type of D chord the whole time, it sounds like a fluent riff. The root 5 shapes are very common and easy to play so take the time to learn these chords!

First and foremost, memorize these new shapes. Then, try experiment with these chords by switching between the regular major chord and a sus chords. Then, quiz yourself by being to automatically play these chords: Esus2, F#sus4, Bbsus2,Gsus4
