By Eric Hufschmid

Hey guys,

Today we’ve got an advanced lesson that deals with the jazzier side of classic rock. Specifically, we’ll be looking at how we can use Lydian substitutions to spice up a standard progression. This is a trick that someone like Frank Zappa or Steely Dan might have used to create a jazzy/rock sound.

We hope you enjoy this trick!

Try applying these substitutions to a chord progression of your choice! Get creative and see what you can come up with!
