Phoenix Style Ionian Progression

The Ionian mode is one of the easiest to grasp because it’s essentially the same thing as a standard major scale. Today’s riff is in the style of Phoenix and uses the key of G Ionian. Phoenix is an awesome pop/funk/dance band from France that lays down some solid grooves coupled with super catchy hooks. In general there’s really nothing too new or crazy here, the main point is to understand that a major key is a sort of mode in itself.
