D Sus Family

By Eric Hufschmid

Hey GBUers,

Today we’ve got our first sus family, this time it’s the D sus family. This is perhaps the most commonly used sus family because Dsus2 and Dsus4 are easy to play and sound awesome.

Take some time to get these chords under your belt; you’ll be using them all the time!

1) Memorize the D sus chord family.

2) Then, try strumming between a D – Dus2 – D -Dsus4

3) Finally, try taking a common chord progression and subbing a regular D major for a D sus chord. For example, take D – Bmin – G – A and replace the D with a Dsus2 or a Dsus4.
