Hendrix Style Pentatonic Riff

By Eric Hufschmid

Hey GBUers,

In this lesson we’re going to look at how a guitar master like Hendrix would use the pentatonic scale. He would often play two notes of the scale to fill out the sound and also add a rock flavor to his playing. The cool thing about the open pentatonic scale is that you can always add an open string on top of any notes you are playing in the scale, a common approach for Hendrix.

Try it out for yourself!

Simply try to get this riff as clean and smooth as possible!
